Love, Simon is a 2018 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Greg Berlanti, written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, and based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. The film stars Nick Robinson, Josh Duhamel, and Jennifer Garner.
Love Simon is a beautiful love story about a high school boy who is struggling with his truth. Simon hasn’t told his friends and family that he is gay, but when he falls for an anonymous classmate online things start to unravel and he starts his journey of self discovery.
I enjoyed this film, it was funny, sweet and it broke the stereotypical views of the LGBTQ community. However, it didn’t touch on the issue of coming out and not being accepted by friends and family, which are the real experiences of a lot of individuals facing these issues in the real world.
However the movie is a step in the right direction of evolving the stories LGBTQ and helping them reach the world.
