Child’s Play Returns, Chucky’s Creator Isn’t Happy About the Reboot

The trailer for the rebooted franchise Childs Play has been released by Orion Pictures. It’s that horror film that focused around a murrderus doll named Chucky.

For years the franchise sort of dried up, with sequels only ending up on streaming services or right to blu-ray.

The last movie from the franchise I remember seeing is “Bride of Chucky” with Jennifer Tilly.

I was a fan of the franchise until it became overly ridiculous, from failed attempts to modernize the franchise in the 21’st century.  The other films weren’t that interesting enough to watch.

Producers of “It” Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are behind Chucky’s latest return to theaters.

However this new film is the first “Childs Play” movie was made without the involvement if the series creator Don Mancini.

According to Indie Wire, Don Mancini is not exactly happy about the movie being made.

“Obviously my feelings were hurt, You know I had just done two movies… forgive me if I sound defensive. [They] Were both at 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though they didn’t get theatrical releases, they were well regarded. And I did create the character and nurture the franchise for three fucking decades”

It seems that Orion Pictures only care about money and are capitalizing on the franchise that they have the rights too, even though the creator of “Childs Play” disapproves of the reboot.

It was also reported that the reboot will not include “voodoo”. In the previous movies voodoo was used to possess the doll in the first place. Charles Lee Ray (Chucky) was an infamous murderer who’s mission was to transfer his soul into a young child and start his life over.

Although there are no official plot details about the film, it is being speculated that the reboot will focus around “AI” that has malfunctioned in the doll. [Lame]
