New Pilot “Motherland” Picked Up By Freeform

Freeform is adding another show to their ever-growing lineup. This time its a series focused on an interesting concept, a supernatural military drama focused on witches.

According to SpoilerTV, Freeform has picked up a supernatural series based on an alternate America where witches made a deal with the U.S. government 300 years ago.

The witches serve in the military in order to be protected from being persecuted. Young woman at the age of 18 conscripts, and receive basic training in combat magic at a base called Fort Salem.

In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped. Woman are on the front lines, fighting looming terrorist threats similar to our world, however, their tactics and weapons are supernatural.

The show will follow three young women, dealing with basic life situations. The struggle with their own personal lives, their relationships with each other as they fight powerful witch terrorists known as The Spree.

Amalia Holm and Demetria McKenney will also star.
